Frequently Asked Questions

1. What kind of chocolate do you use?
We use gourmet chocolate products produced with Blommer Chocolate. The milk chocolate is Kosher Dairy, and the dark chocolate is Kosher Parve.

2. Is everything edible?
Everything is edible and delicious. The chocolate is manufactured at The Chocolate Printing Company's facilities in New York. The printing surface of the chocolate is coated with a thin layer of frosting made of egg white and powdered sugar. The printing is actually done on the frosting.

3. What about the ink?
Unlike many other processes for printing on cakes or cookies, Chocolography's Food Imaging Systems uses unique cartridges filled with FDA approved food coloring. These special inks produce remarkably accurate pictures, graphics, logos, and text on the surface of the delicious chocolate.

4. What is the shelf life of the chocolate?
If stored properly the chocolate and the image will still be delicious for 6-12 months. Keep at room temperature and out of direct sunlight. Do not refrigerate or freeze, as this will cause the product to sweat and affect the image. If kept as a memento, the chocolate image has a shelf life of 5-10 years.

5.How can we come up with my personalized image for my special occasion?
We can scan your photo or artwork or you can send it via email. The better the quality of the original image, the better the image on the chocolate will appear. Digital photos should be 300 dpi or greater. Photos that are very dark or blurry are difficult to use as well. We have literally thousands of clipart items that can be used to customized your image. And we can use dozens of different font styles to make your message stand out.

6. How long does it take to have my chocolate printed?
Once the artwork (images and text) are approved and the order is paid, we will begin the printing process. Depending on the size of the order and time of year (the holidays are always busy for great gift ideas like these personalized chocolates), it should take one or two weeks to ship out your order. We ask for the date it is needed by to make sure we get your order out in time.

7. Can the chocolate be shipped in the summer?
Absolutely. We have our chocolate products shipped to Massachusetts from the manufacturing facility in New York throughout the year, regardless of season or temperature. To handle the summer's higher temperatures when shipping to non-local customers we ship overnight and use cold packs, which adds $10 to the shipping costs. We will do a price comparison with USPS Priotiry Mail versus Fed Ex services other than ground ( usually the least expensive) to see if we can get the shipping cost down and still get it to you in 2 or 3 days.

8. What is the set up fee?
We charge a one time set up fee on some items to make sure the artwork is ready to be printed to produce the best possible results.
